What is Coming?
(Most of the HDVDs we hear about are available for pre-order right away and go to our Alphalist. The Blu-ray titles you read about here have been talked about or announced, but they have not materialized to the point that vendors are offering them for pre-order in a reliable way. If a "tentative title" languishes too long, we delete it.)
EuroArts has announced a deal with Mariinsky Ballet to produce several important opera and ballet titles in 2012 including Die Frau ohne Schatten, Dead Souls, The Gambler, Attila, and The Nutcracker in 3D. (The recent Jewels ballet release was the first item to come out of this deal. Since it was released simultaneously in DVD and Blu-ray, we assume that some or maybe all of these productions now undertway will also be issued in Blu-ray.)
Opus Arte has posted a Nederlandse Oper Eugene Onegin for release early March 2012. We think vendors will soon list this this for sale. In the meantime, you can preorder it at the Opus Arte website.
Further, Accentus will probably release a Bruchner Symphony No. 5 performed by the Lucerne Festival Orchestra with Abbado conducting. Accertus is now working on Bruckner Symphonies No. 4-9 for 2012 release.
FRA is working on a grand project to bring us Les Contes d'Hoffmann in high-definition and 3-D in 2012.
