Stars Camilla Nylund (Feldmarschallin Fürstin Werdenberg), Michèle Losier (Octavian), Nadine Sierra (Sophie), Günther Groissböck (Baron Ochs auf Lerchenau), Roman Trekel (Herr von Faninal), Anna Samuil (Jungfer Marianne Leitmetzerin), Karl-Michael Ebner (Valzacchi), Katharina Kammerloher (Annina), Atalla Ayan (Italian Singer), Erik Rosenius (Ein Polizeikomissar), Florian Hoffmann (Der Haushofmeister bei der Feldarmarschallin), Linard Vrielink (Der Haushofmeister bei Faninal), Jaka Mihelač (Ein Notar), Andrés Moreno Garcia (Ein Wirt), and Victoria Randem (Eine Modistin). Zubin Metha conducts the Staatskapelle Berlin and the Staatsopernchor Berlin (chorus master Anna Milukova). The cover art says this is in stereo only, but I can’t believe that. Most of the print critics said this production was lame and boring. When you go to the Amazon offering on this, there are many 5-star reports, but they are all dated years before this hit the boards in 2020. The one Amazon review that might really be about this reports the title to be “lame and boring.” There’s a lot of distinguished Rosenkavalier competition, so you might take your search elsewhere.
